+1I find the commute home relaxing ,cus after a 12hr shift its nice 2unwind before I get home, don't care bout time or speed as long as I'm in 1 piecesave beating times 4 wen I'm off work.
Working shifts i find the commute home helps me unwind .

Are you sure you mean what you mean when you say Hybrid.
A friend of mine wants a hybrid, turns out the thought elec assit bikes were what we refer to as hybrids.
is this what you are thinking by chance?

Hybrid = cross between MTB and Road bike right? Was just mooting whether my road bike was best for the bumps and lumps you come across on a commute into Edinburgh - don't think the missus will be too impressed with another bike "cluttering up" the garage TBH

Suppose a hybrid isnt a bad option, mine does me well and will do me great when i do eventually get a roadie

fubar i was commuting similar distance on a hybrid ( 22miler) and was fine i then swithc to a roadie the old n+1 s-1 rule of bike numbers and notice time dropped by 5/10mins without any extra effort plus i loved/love the drops for cruising, not to put you off but i'll take the speed over bumps anyday but at the end its up to you PS did have slicks on and it was an old hybrid.

Mark, somebody a while back advised me to ignore the narrow NCN out of Edinburgh and take Burnshot Road from Crammond (the road past the top of the airport) turn up right to the QE yard tun left by it and at the end of that road turn right and follow the B800 (the old A8000 Kirkliston Road) onto the Bridge. At the moment (because the east side of the bridge is closed) I usually go straight to the roundabout and turn onto the west side of the bridge. Alternatively if you turn right just before the filling station and take the road behind to the east side of the bridge but you need to go down under it, (I take the service road if I'm doing that). The tip worked for me so I'm just passing it on, its better than that narrow NCN path in the dark/winter
I finally got round to following your tip yesterday, Mr Grumpy from Dalgety Bay recommended it also so I thought I'd give it a bash - slightly longer by about half a mile but much better, avoids the residential part of South Q'ferry and as you said the narrow NCN1 between Dalmeny and Cramond, nice quiet route and a bit faster. After the QE Yards once back on the main route I realise it is the same road as the end of PFS so I'd done it before anyway. Now if you can sort out the weather for me next time as well that'd be great... ! Cheers, Mark
