First, i got to work and one of my team members had a big wide grin on her face

the other one said, "tell her your good news" and i thought "o no, she's gonna tell me she's pregnant!"

but then my team member said "I rode to work on my bike today" :o)

Woo Hoo. She did 13 mile which is really good I think. I have actually inspired someone and she said that when it got tough on the hills and sometimes she had to stop she said she remembered what i said about how knacked i was the first time i did it. Awww bless her. i'm so pleased for her because she has a tough life because of a medical problem and i think it will give her a mental lift if she took up cycling.

the second bit of good news. well, you know i was trying to get some lockers for my office and the one down the road and i was bugging the hell out of my company and finally "went to the top". well, it seems that something is happening. i thought it was anyway, i had heard rumours, but i was a bit worried it was only going to be my office and not the one down the road, but the guy from the other office pinged me an email today to say he had seen some minutes from a meeting instructing facilities to locate a place for lockers in that office.
woohoo.

she said it took her 1hr 40, but it was her first time and on a mountain bike too. i'm well impressed that she even got up and got on the bike, no matter how long it took her. she was an hour early for work because she thought it would take longer LOL.

I do 13 miles too and it takes me 40/50 minutes...on a (quite light) road bike, having cycled a reasonable amount, so that's a really, really good time for a first go!

Well done for her! Tell her it does get easier, just gotta keep on cycling!

Is she on knobbly tires or semi slicks? (I found it a hell of a lot easier after just changing tires.)
13 miles is very impressive, 4 miles used to kill me when I started! Well done her...and you for inspiring someone!

13 miles before work as a beginner is pretty impressive. I hope she's got the bug now:biggrin:.

Other good news, I saw in some minutes earlier today that our senior managers are discussing the provision of showers for cyclists:biggrin:.

Well done to your colleague... she may never cycle again after the amount of aching she'll endure over the next few days, but you can only try to convince her that it'll get easier (and more enjoyable too).

Yes, well done to her, and you for being inspiring! Now, you just have to keep her going over the tough bits, and gently talk her into N+1 bikes....
