Monday morning I'm just around the corner from work and set off at a green light, nothing behind me but around 150 ft down the road I hear a big rumble behind me. My right turn at a minirab is coming up so I'm already primary for it. Big old HGV delivery vehicle driver held off so I could make my turn safely and gave me loads of room behind me. Gave him a wave of thanks as I turned and smiled.

Then the day after I'm waiting to turn onto a road, wait for traffic to clear and see a cyclist heading in the direction in which I wish to travel. Young lady on an upright. Big old dirty skip lorry approached from behind and as I pulled out safely behind it I saw the driver a) hold off at the traffic island and B) overtake right into the other lane. ;)

Also a few drivers have let me out of side roads this week, or stopped so I could turn right. Bit hard to see them gesture as they did it behind the windscreen with their hands, LOL! But thankful that they did and gave a nod of thanks and a smile.

Thankfully that makes up for the dinlow woman this morning that pulled out on me without even looking, forcing me to stop. I realised after that she'd scanned up the road and past me, despite being in primary at the time (nothing behind me). I waved my arms at her going "Can you EVEN SEE ME!!!!" ;)

And some toerag tosser decided to drive at me this afternoon, on to my side of the road, instead of waiting half a second for me to get past (he'd pulled out center of the road early for a parked car and overshot). Seriously tempted to smash his wingmirror off for that. Decided it was best to keep my hands on the hoods and swing far left to avoid this idiot and shout "WAIT!" at him.

Apart from those two fools its been great here. Something has been in the water obviously and everyone has chilled.xx(

Ooh goody, another lorry driving CCer. I'm on tankers nowadays, but until recently was tramping in a Renault Magnum. Those things are great, like driving a block of flats!
Nice to hear about your positive experiences Downfader, especially with the skip lorry.

Skip lorries have had a bit of a bad rep of late I reckon, so thought I'd share.

Driving a block of flats LOL! Love that! My uncle used to drive rigs like the one in the Saints website. I think he drove for a supermarket and then Findus foods back in the 80s.

LOL The majority of HGV drivers are good probably the training that you receive these days .Guess i'm lucky in that i have very little town or country road driving as it's site to site transfer via Motorway ,though driving a 40 ft artic round Edinburgh New Town can be fun ;)but as a rule i tend to give a cars width to bikes and cars don't get the time of day :evil:likewise for WVM ...

Reading the posts reminded me of two things today..
Riding the A43 from Corby toward Stamford today, slightly uphill section so i wasnt making any speed....an artic held back for about 1/3 mile rather than just go and be damned. Hats off to him.

500 yards from home, just approaching a R/A and a learner motorcyclist overtook, no problem...then his instructor overtook, and although he didnt come really close...he was too close to show respect to me ;) and then cut in front when he could have just used the whole lane.
Freeking marvelous...of all the people to do that. Twat !!! I'd normally have sounded off at him...but i was just too knackered to be bothered that much

Most lorry drivers are really good I find. Haven't encountered many that were dangerous for cyclists ever.
