Pray indulge me in a little bit of self congratulation. By the time I got to work today I was showing 2004.94 miles for the year. I know that's small potatoes to some, but based on my experience of six weeks commuting last Autumn I'd set a target of 1000 miles for this year. To double that has made me happy.

I've set 300 miles per month for next year, although I think realistically it will be more like 3000-3500 for the whole year which will of course be a bit less than 300 per month. We'll see.

Very well done!
I just need to do one more commute to make it to 500 miles, which is my own, small round number. I only started in mid-June, and illness and holidays have got in my way a bit, but now I have a locker, some determination, and an ambition for four days per week...!

Congratulations, that's probably 2000.94 more miles than the average person

Oh, gee, thanks

Thank you all.

The first turning point for me was round about May when I suddenly realised I could - and wanted to - commute by bike every day. Then I had a second Day of Revelation in August when we went to Snowdonia for our holiday and got rained on pretty much every day whilst tromping round the mountains: I'd forgotten how little rain actually matters when you're out in it since the kids were born and we'd stopped walking. That holiday reminded me and I've been commuting in all weathers since.

It does rely on the excellent Mrs-LC doing a laundry run for me from time-to-time when she visits our "local" Tesco which, luckily, is just round the corner from work.

Plan for next year is to drop my car and buy more bikes.

Well done, its amazing what you can acheive when you put your mind to it, I have done around a thousand (didnt have a computer all the time) since the 10th of June and am loving it.

Am off it at the moment after two scary days at the start of the week, too icy, cold I actually enjoy but Land Rovers sliding towards me I can do without, dont want to ruin it by being stupid and hurting myself.

Yeah im trying to persuade him but don't want to push him.Perhaps he will come back in the summer.Well done BTW.

I haven't got a car to fall back on.Boom boom.
