2012 Giant Rd bike

It looks a bit elderly, doesn't look like any Giant bike produced in this century.

I think it is most likely genuine. Giant have been making bikes for a long time and this looks like it's from the nineties. Can't figure out whether it's Ali or steel though, my guess is the former, although most were steel from this era. Looks quite a nice bike, in spite of the owner claiming it's a 2012.

Your only concern should be wear on a bike that age, but it looks in nice condition so has likely been well looked after.

Agree with @vickster maybe better chucking the money @biggs682 way.

Good. The seller is clearly a crook. "there's a lot of modern rd bikes use it". I wouldn't want to deal with someone so dishonest.

I see 2012 is missing from the ad. Suggests that no one believed it. Which means he doesn't know enough about bikes to know that isn't a believable statement, so it's unlikely it's not stolen, as the serial number above also suggests.
