Paul Magnier taking the first two stages of the CRO race. That's 7 wins in his last 8 race days!

Yeah, but stage 1 was a Split stage......*

*Well it started in Split at any rate

He's the new Pog (for SSRs). I did think of starting a "Should Paul Magnier swallow his pride and retire?" thread when he was 63rd on the final stage in Slovenia and dropped from 1st to 45th on GC but it looks like it may have been premature.

Testa Della Corsa in the lead in dell'Emilia, but looks more like Pidcock to me

Del Toro joins him with half a km to go

Absolutely savage attack from Del Toro and Pidcock can't hold on.

Bloody UAE with their ten billionth win of the season....

In other news, Danish superkid Albert Withen Philipsen held onto the front group of 12 until they were halfway up the final climb of San Luca (2.1km, 9.4%) and grabbed a tenth place . Impressive ride, given than Ben Tullet was probably the least well known name in the top ten, it's a who's who of climby-puncheur types.

Withen Philipsen is an interesting one. I know he produces some very impressive power numbers but am not sure what kind of rider we can expect him to be. What races do you think he'll be targeting in the future?

From his size and power - and TT ability - I think we were expecting an MvdP type rider. I really wouldn't have expected him to be in the finale in dell'Emilia, he was a late replacement for Ciccone and was told to just see how long he could hang with the leaders, but absolutely not the sort of race I would have expected him to do so well in. But he's got a top ten at Eschborn Frankfurt as well so maybe I'm just missing his true talents. Before this I'd have said typical Belgian cobbles, Roubaix, maybe Amstel would be his territory. But he's versatile, with MTB, Cross and road on his palmares so god knows
