The women's Tour de Suisse kicked off yesterday with what should have been a stage for a small bunch sprint in Gstaad. But a two-up breakaway escaped on the descent of the days climb and too much faffing in the chase groups meant the escapees gained almost 2 minutes. Those escapees: GC favourites Demi Vollering and Marlen Reusser. Demi lead-out the sprint but Reusser came around and took the jersey and a 4-second bonus advantage.
Today's stage in the Emmental region also looks unpredictable with two tough climbs in the second half before a flat run-in.
