Bank Road, right in town. The 'long' version of the course that finishes on Wellington Street. My aim is around 2:50, which might see me inside the top 100. Adam Kenway won in 2:18 last time the Nationals were held there.

The women’s road race isn’t exactly riveting so far. A lone Austrian who had a lead of 3 minutes now down to under 2:30 with the peloton riding a steady tempo pace behind and the odd rider losing touch on the hills.

I think you've got to be very keen to watch this yawnfest.

Yeah, I’ve switched it off and will try to catch the end. They were averaging around 20mph, I know it’s a hilly course and a long race but that seems ridiculously slow
