It’s not really on for big nations to send reduced teams on cost grounds. I can’t recall what entries were like when it was in Oz or Richmond but I can’t imagine it was much cheaper. Then all the other years where it is in Europe no-one considers the cost for teams travelling from developing nations. If we want cycling to become more global events like this need supporting. It’s also odd to find money to send junior riders but not to send a decent sized elite team.

In simple terms imo for the big countries it is all about winning, or placing at least. For the smaller countries taking part and being visible is a win. Not sure how we bring the two closer but some placings from riders of smaller countries would help. Maybe one day soon, but not this year.

Well to be fair, even the big nations don't necessarily have a bottomless pit of money and have to budget. That's certainly the case for Denmark (geographically quite small, but punches well above its weight in cycling and a wealthy country). Still very disappointing not to see any TT or u23 or Jnrs and only two women in the elite RR.

For the MRR it's super duper hard to see past pog ...non of the classic guys can match the climbing and none of the climbers can power over those cobbles . Perfect for pog

Well it would be unfair to get on the podium given the Moto pacing

That bottom part of the climb where they hit the cobbles at 11% is pretty savage. As a TT end it's devastating, will be interesting to see the splits there.
