I'm getting a feeling that there should be a grave accent in there. Vallières. Instinctively I would go for "valli-air" if that accent was there. But I couldn't necessarily explain why because it's so long since I studied French. Isn't that what a grave accent does? I may be completely wrong.

If you look at a map it is Vallières.

This seems to be accepted pronunciation most sites i've found

There are a couple of examples here as well, seems to be a bit of difference in how much you lean into that R (possibly defined by how much you hate the English)

Sadly departed Richard Moore did an interview with him when he was being touted as the next Eddy Merckx and they spent some time discussing it. Think it's Oatabix with a stray R in the middle.

Oat-er-brooks

If in doubt, ask Lukas at Saiklist Help ^_^
He's also on Bluesky for those that don't want to visit the Nazi hell-site, but some of his older stuff isn't there yet

This is correct, with correct spelling. Why most written reports do not include it is outside of my limited knowledge. Maybe it is something against french speakers.

I would certainly expect a sports governing body to provide correct spellings, maybe naively*. The UCI website results of the women elite road race excludes Vallieres' accent, includes Garcia Canellas' (3rd), excludes PFP's (16th)** and includes Ruegg's (20th).

* yes, I know there should be something over the "i" but I don't know what its called or how to find it on my keyboard.
** and Prevot should probably have 2 accents, as in Prévôt !!
