Sad as the story is, haven't people heard the messages about the risks of excessive sunbathing especially in countries such as Oz where the sun is very strong and warnings are in one's face the whole time?

I know we have had a crap summer here in the UK but do you put sun cream on your exposed parts when it is warm and sunny either here or in hotter climes whether cycling or not?

I hate to hyjack this thread so I apologise.

For me, the case of sunbeds causing cancer is pretty much irrifutable. Thus, why does this government allow this industry to continue. It's a little akin to them allowing the tobbaco industry to continue as it is even though they know that about 130,000 deaths in the UK are attributed to tobbaco smoking.

I apologise to bring up illegal drugs as it is slightly trolllike, however consider that the government recently reclassfied cannabis to a class B drug on scant scientific evidence of its harmful effects. Yet they do nothing about this, when the danger is very clear. To me that is shameful.

I do think it is a bit of a lottery, I lived in Australia for 3 years and I love sunbathing and now 58 still no signs of skin cancer, but if your fair skinned you should take extra care,I like we use to many years ago, it was only "working class" that had a suntan.

Lots of things are legal which aren't good for you. All pleasures come with risks.
