250£ on a road bike for begginer

ok so i booked an order in halfords for bike, lock, pedals, bottle and bottle holder, I'll go there in about 30 mins. I will buy next stuff next week (eg bike computer, helmet and bag and rest minor stuff like pump and tools, for now im not gonna go all out with doing distances until i finish my kit so for 2~weeks it will be mostly used as a bike to work (around 4,5 miles one way) so ill have some practice before i jump into 20 miles courses and more.

On halfords site there is a bike on pics without pedals+ there is no pedals in description so i assumed there are no pedals at all. @cyberknight id love to get one of these, pm me with details please

my dream is to do a bike trip from uk to poland one day...

I'd forget it, it'll be poor, if leaving the bike in an unsecured location for more than 10 minutes

Cheap locks are cheap for a reason

it's going to be stored in garden and when at work it will be inside the work place behind a magnetic swipe fence. pretty much secure.

Gardens and sheds are prime targets for bike theft, so make sure it's covered on home insurance as I assume you won't be able to simply replace from cash if stolen

my garden has no entrance from streets, it has entrance only from house + around it are other gardens so it will be quite hard to get it out i believe

Some on here ? @fossyant i think had someone take a window out of a garage to break into a locked garage , if in doubt keep it in the house because if someone really wants to nick the bike they will .

nope and i already ordered carrera, ill have it this sunday after 1pm assembled and ready to go

im bit afraid of the frame size, 51 cm for 176cm guy we will see, if it wont be fitting me too good, there is other carrera 54cm just for 30pounds more (stupid me didnt checked it out earlier) and ill probably exchange it for that.

Note - Halfords bikes seem to be oddly measured, so double check the geometry
