My old and venerable winter bike has the old 27 X 1.25 rims. I know I can get tyres and tubes, but does anyone know where I could find replacement wheels or even just rims?

    Simon,

Thanks for the link. I may be able to keep the old hack going a bit longer.

700c wheels really aren't too much smaller. I was surprised how little difference it made to my Dawes.

Did you manage to keep the old Weinmann brakes?

Did you know that Weinmann brakes are date stamped with year and monthy of manufacture on the rear. Mine are June 1970 and still going strong

    Yep, plenty of drop left.

No I didn't and I am annoyed that I didn't. I'll be upstairs to look tomorrow.

Do you know if they sell 27 X 1.25 aluminum rims anywhere? So that I can replace the steel rims on my bike ( I've been having trouble with the brakes)

The link in the second post above still works - SJS cycles sell them.
