just completed my 2nd ever ride 14k tonight and feel brilliant now no crashes no abuse from passers bye,but did get covered in grit from the gritters doing the road but I can deal with that. I can see this sport taking over my life

Get yourself a puncture kit as you will get a puncture for sure but that's all part of riding a bike, keep your chain oiled and get a bottle of fluid to drink.. Then ride the it like you stole it.. its magic..

And a pocket pump, multitool and some basic spares if you're going out beyond a reasonable walk-back distance from home.

Otherwise, just get out and enjoy. There's so much more to see on a bike than driving along the same roads in a car. A crisp winters day is just as pleasant as a balmy summers evening imho

Good going! As the weather hopefully starts to get a bit better, nothing beats a good night ride imo. Keep turning those pedals!

Well done, brilliant distance for a second ride. Good news is that cycling gets you fit so quickly you will soon be polishing off 14k rides without breaking sweat.

It's rare that I get abuse but remember people will be jealous of your fitness, saving money and freedom from speed cameras!
