Have any Brompton users found an issue with inner tubes failing at the valve stem? My B (2007 superlight) had the rear tube fail last year. These are schraeder valves, and haven't moved to a non-radial position through the rim. I replaced it (not repairable), but during the replacement I noticed the hole in the rim had sharp edges. I used a burr-removal tool and some 600 grit wet/dry to resolve this problem. I also added an O-ring around the valve stem to ensure it didn't get contact with the rim of the plastic rim tape. Foolishly I didn't remove the tube from the front wheel and take similar precautions  . The inevitable happened last week. The rim tape on the front wheel was also very reluctant to move to the correct position at the valve hole, and despite manipulation it drifts into one side of the hole and jams the stem - not really critical, more annoying! Have other users fitted fabric rim tapes instead? They have their own issues - I've found(on my 700c wheels on other bikes) the fabric tapes can curl over and stick to the inner tube. It sound like I have tube issues (only rarely!), but experiences from other users are often very helpful. TIA

Not using Continental are you ? Worth changing the rim tape - cloth and plastic are OK, but double check for burrs.

Unknown make of inner tube - original and made in China. TBF I suspect there wouldn't have been a problem without the sharp edges on the valve hole in the rim.

A month or so ago I lost two latex tubes to punctures right by the valve seam, on my Vel 50 RL front wheel.

Fortunately they both happened at home and were just me experimenting with an aero wheel on the front of my GT Bolt ebike.

I've not looked in great detail, but I've not worked out what caused it. The rim tape shows the outline of spoke holes, but nothing worse than I've seen before.

At some point, I think I need to have a good look at the valve hole and tape.
