I'm off to buy my new bike this weekend, and I'm aiming to pick up the core 'bits and bobs' that I'll also need : helmet, hi-vis jacket, lock etc
As (when I'm not at work) I spent my life in cargo shorts, whatever the weather or temperature, I was thinking of getting either a pair of shorts, or 3/4 length shorts to ride in. I like the look of the Endura Humvee 3/4 shorts - they have the removable inner padded shorts, plus they look like the sort of thing I'd wear anyway.
I'm just wondering if anyone knows what the sizing is like?

Being rather unfit and something of a porker (until I get riding), I currently have a rather large (*cough* 40" *cough*) waist, and I don't know whether XL (which seems to be the largest they do) will fit.

Hopefully the shop will have a pair I can try on, in which case I'll know straight away, but just in case I need to order some, does anybody know how generous (or otherwise) the sizing is?

Or indeed if anyone has any recommendations for other baggy shorts with padded liners.*

*The world does not need to see me in lycra, so let's nip that in the bud right now!

Cheers!

Hi, I have the same shorts and am 33" waist, which should be medium according to Endura size chart. I tried a pair and they were way too tight- uncomfortably so.
I tried both L and XL on and either would have been ok- went for the L in the end. Have a look at link below- can get XXL.

Much appeciated! I'll see if I can try a pair on Sunday. If not, I'll go for an XXL pair anyway. If I can't fit in them straight away, it'll give me a taget to aim for!

I'm a 36 waist currently, my XL Humvees fit comfortably and with some growing room. I doubt they'd make it up to a 40 and be comfy though. I'd ask if they do an XXL on order. Edinburgh Bikes do a very similar padded 3/4 too. Hummers are costly tho and if you're planning on shrinking a bit by cycling then it may be an idea to get a cheapo pair or some lycra shorts / cycle specific underwear if you feel you need the padding and wear regular shorts over them until you hit a waist size that will get plenty of wear out of the indestructible hummers.

Almost certainly! But I've only been here for about five minutes, so I've probably missed it!

I'm only teasing... :hugs:

FWIW, I have a pair of humvees. I am a 30" waist and so usually a small, but even the mediums are quite tight on me.

Bit of a late reply, but I wear Hummvees, and I too have a 40" waist. I wear XLs and they fit OK. But I'd say they are at the limit of the size. Another half an inch and you'd definitely need XXL. I have another pair of Endura shorts that are XXL and they are roomy.

I went for the XXL Humvee's in the end, and they're great. I've picked up two spare pairs of the padded liner shorts so I can rotate them.
And I won't be too upset if in 6 months or a year I have to buy some more because they've become too big.
Here's hoping, anyway...

I have been wearing HumVee 3/4s recently and I do like them, but I find the sizing on my pair a bit small. I currently have a 35" waist and I find the XXL elasticated waistband slightly tight. I think they will be perfect for me when I am down to 33-34". I am surprised that anybody with a 40" waist finds XXL comfortable!

The liner shorts are quite warm, which is nice when the temperatures are 10-15 degrees, but I started to feel a bit too warm the other day when temperatures were 18-19 degrees. I am going to wear a worn out pair of bibshorts under the HumVees instead on warm days. On hot days, I will wear lightweight bibshorts.
