Hi!

I've read Andy's advice to newbies thread, and based on that have done a little research and narrowed my choice to three bikes. I was hoping I could have a bit of advice on brand, and if I've selected the right bikes for my need, and ultimately which one I should buy!

So my reason for wanting a bike...I've recently moved jobs and am now just 2.5 miles from the office. Yay! I'd like to bike to work throughout the summer for various reasons, fitness, petrol costs etc. And just to get some fresh air before/after spending 9 hours in an office!!

While primarily a commuter bike (the route to work would be road-based), I'd also like to option to take the bike out at weekends where I may ride on a light track. I dont think I'd ever go forest-riding or where a mountain bike would be needed.

So I think I need a hybrid, and have found the following -
  1. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dawes-Acc...99435?pt=UK_Bikes_GL&var=&hash=item2576fa36ab
  2. http://www.discovercycling.com/bike...tler-windermere-ladies-hybrid-bike-2012-.html
  3. http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/..._productId_893137_langId_-1_categoryId_165534
As you can see my budget is around £200.

I rode a Dawes Mojave for a day on holiday in Cornwall and loved it, however it is out of my budget to buy one of these so I wondered if the Accona is a suitable/similar alternative?

To be honest, the Claud Butler is the one I'm leaning towards but wanted to be a bit more informed!!

Any thoughts are much appreciated.
Rachel.

The Claud Butler has a rack, mudguards and a full-length chainguard - all handy for a commuter.

Almost as importantly, you say you like it, so that would be my choice, er, I mean yours.

I think GJT has got it sussed, youll only regret it if you dont get the one you set your heart on. It is a very nice looking bike.

I'm not an expert but I have a Dawes Mojave, it's excellent. Doubt has been put in my mind, I just posted before you ("Time to change...") by the guy at Halfords who suggested it's falling to bits. I've had it 4 years and it's done a fair bit of commuting and travelling but it's very comfy, quick, sturdy and reliable. Hope it helps.
