I bought a 32 hole rim for my front wheel, and now find the front wheel currently has 36 spokes. (the rear had 32 spokes, but I was forgetting that the rear wheel had already been replaced once). Luckily I hadn't started unthreading it yet.

It's a Halo Excite-R 700c rim, so what 32-hole hub and spokes would do this rim justice? Would I be looking at more than thirty quid? I've looked at bike shop websites but don't really know what I'm looking for.

If you need to buy hub and spokes then you won't get anything decent for £30 unless you can find some eBay bargains.

Would this be a suitable hub?

I use rim brakes, and have read about the slight disadvantage of having a disc hub on a rim brake, because of the dishing quotient (I don't think the website actually used the word quotient, but when do you ever get to use it?), but it's £16.

Looks like can get hold of 32 spokes with nipples for a tenner, would they be reasonable enough quality? But then there's the hassle of working out what length(s) I need.

The manufacturer's original wheel has actually served me pretty well, so I'm tempted just to buy a £30 wheel as it'll probably be similar quality....
