3D TV's the bees knees or just Trump ?

3D is defunct but being kept on life support by a desperate cinema industry who are losing out to low cost(or illegally free) movie downloads and are trying to maintain a fake demand for a difference.

I heard the same, I recall hearing how the movie industry felt that 3d didn't offer much more viewing pleasure (in audience tests) but wanted as it was much harder...or impossible to illegally copy 3d content

My daughter has one. she has had it for about 2 years. I think they have watched 2 films on it in 3D and have not bothered since . I have just bought a 4K smart TV.

Not worth it. Even Sky stopped broadcasting in 3D a while back.

You'd be paying for something that can't be used.

You can buy 3D Blu Ray though & though limited there are some film releases each year in 3D.

I was thinking, if buying a 4K TV that I might as well have the extra option available but was looking for voices of experience to say if it is any good.

Black Friday deals seem quite good.

The reason why 3D was relatively rubbish was the massive loss of resolution on the passive sets.

My mate has a 4k 3dtv before samsung dropped it. It is one of the most awesome tvs I have ever seen.

As someone else said 3D mode is hilarious and not too bad.

If you aren't fussed then don't get it. I have probably watched more 3D content than most of the people on this thread and I wouldn't get one. It is different for how each person perceives 3D. I get a lot out of it some people say the effect is minimal.

Few. There was a very small bit of Planet Earth 2 that popped up as being in 3D, was never going to be able to get the glasses ready to be able to watch!

Why did you buy a 3D TV, or any TV, if you don't watch TV (unless others do)

I do watch, just not a lot.

The Samsung we got about a year ago has some technology that converts non-3D programs into 3D. You get some fancy 3D glasses with the TV. Of course when you first get the TV you have a play about with this and it's clever stuff. Since then the 3D glasses haven't been out of the box

I never go to a 3d film if a 2d option is available. The glasses annoy me and the screen is blurry on the perifary.
VR may be the next big thing, but i suspect it will only have niech usage.
There is no appetite for a 3d or VR version of Coronation Street.

One of the things I would bear in mind for a new 4k tv, that it has Netflix and Amazon on it and other 4k services.

You're not future proofing stuff forever, but you are keeping an eye on stuff on the horizon. Assuming you keep the tv for 5 years Netflix 4k service is something I'd definitely want.

Mostly crap programmes. There has been some great stuff on recently. As the TV companies still think we all go out in the summer!

Our's came with 3D - we've not used it. It actually works well and will make a normal picture 3d, but the "active" glasses are a mare. OK if you are in a dark room, but if it's bright, the flickering can be very annoying if you stop looking at the TV.

The TV is great though !! Samsung !
