Up to you of course but I'd got route 2 with an adjustment of visiting Den Haag before taking the Maassluis - Rozenburg ferry (thus bypassing most of Rotterdam that is relatively commercial) - route.

Utrecht is a great place (personal recommendations of dinner at Meat & More, coffee at tijm/Keen Coffee Bar).

Tijm is a great place, they have two cafes as well. For those who love rotisserie chicken I highly recommend T'kippegie. https://www.kippegie.nl/

Two years ago we rode the Waterlinie route following the historic fortified water lines. I don't have it on my website yet, but I strongly recommend this route for your trip. It offers excellent route guidance and infrastructure, also a lot of interesting places along the way. Right at the beginning it is worth making a small detour to the south - through the famous Kinderdijk and the Biesbosch National Park.

It will definitely be one of the routes in our European top list:

Agree with others on this thread, the Biesbosch Nature Reserve just east of Dordrecht is stunning. I rode through it in April 2023 and could happily have stayed for days. I’ve never heard so many cuckoos. Also good for nightingales and plenty of waders too. Saw evidence of beavers as well. I crossed onto the reserve from Dordrecht on the Kop Van t’land ferry Before heading on east towards Germany. Some pics below, complete with friendly cafe cat at Selevia Hoeve!
