4 gang wall socket question.

Situation is.......
As per title I have a 4 gang wall socket in the kitchen......its perhaps 18 months old and properly installed ie nit a DIY job.
It has a small light to tell me its live.
So......this morning I plugged the kettle in and switched on.......nothing (i assumed the kettle had conked). I tried it in another of the 4 ports (dont know the correct word) and it worked fine.
Q. Is it possible for just 1 of the port/sockets to fail ?
Q. If just 1 has failed can it be fixed ?
Its not the end of the world as I never have more the 2 things plugged in but I would like to know.

Im NO ELECTRICIAN
I have a 3 port in garage and each port has its own fuse ....
If the fuse has blew that be why

Cannot comment how/why the kettle may have blew one fuse but not the others
I think appliances will cause more issues than the wiring

2. Probably not if it's how I'm envisioning it. However, its probably not expensive to replace the entire unit.
3. It's worth checking fuses and the like.

Have you checked the circuit breaker for that circuit?
Kettles can trip the breaker under various circumstances

That would take all four out plus other sockets on the same circuit.

The switch might have failed or something has broken inside, there isn't much else to go wrong.
I would just replace it, flakey electrical things are never good..

It seems like it is surface mounted and not recessed into the wall so pretty easy to take out and check
if you are competent - I would be dubious about it myself but would at least get as far as taking it off and giving a serious looking at
which might reveal something - or might not

I would worry about using any of it as it is just in case there could be a short
but then the contact breaker on the circuit should trip so it should be OK
but I would have a look anyway - or get someone else to

looks like the screws are covered in filler - so they would need clearing first

but then I am no electrician and as a DIYer by wife can attest that I am as good at that as I am at cooking cheese!

I AM NOT AN ELECTRICIAN, but maybe a wire has worked loose on a connection to that 2nd socket. Isolate using the breaker at the board if investigating. The 50 Hz of the AC can loosen wires - I check our shower ceiling switch ocassionally because it's prone to this problem, and because of the high load of a shower it leads to the contact burning.

Repeated plugging/unplugging can spread the connections in the socket. Rare, but as the materials get lighter in these things, more likely to happen.

Probably a mechanical issue with the switch.

Looks like a 2-gang to 4-gang convertor.

Either replace it or go back to a 2-gang socket as you usually only have two things plugged in.
