Doesn't take me that long to do all 4..........

4 hours on one bike would include a full service as well, and a wax.
Brazillian or Hollywood Fossy?

For me a good clean takes about 1 hour which includes wheels off and cleaning and oiling where needed. The No.1 roadie gets cleaned after every ride but as it's starting from a good base that can be completed in less than an hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MTB gets hosed down with a brushing after muddy rides - 10 minutes.

Road bike gets washed with car shampoo and a brush then hosed - 15 minutes.

I've spent a total of about 4 hrs cleaning my bikes too... if I add up all the bike cleaning I have ever done in my life!

Like fishing, time spent cycling and cleaning bikes is not to be considered part of your allotted time on Earth

I clean my bike like that, shouldn't take 4 hours though! Takes me about an hour, tops!
Would you like to do my lovely very old Orange Clockwork, it's full of mud. When I get some energy I'll brush the dirt off then chuck a sponge of water over it!

No!!

Stirling job squire.I like your style.. keep it up. Standards have to be kept. Mine have slipped recently as I have forgotten to take a cleaning cloth with me on the last couple of rides.

Given that the bike (Trek 7.3 FX) only cost me £400, am I being a bit too excessive with my cleaning regime?

:ohmy::ohmy::ohmy: If you could see the state of my Secteur at the moment Ian after 6 days on the run of commuting with absolutely no cleaning you'd be shocked. Still might give it a quick once over this weekend if I get a spare 10minutes.

Did you clean the threads on the dustcaps, they can get a bit gritty sometimes.

Oh, and did you make sure you got all the crud out of the chain links with a cotton bud? (Don't laugh, I do it occasionally....)
