Hi all,

I used to ride everywhere as a kid (5-20) and have hardly ridden a bike in the last 20 years. As the subject says, I'm interested in buying myself an ebike for my 40th, ideally one I can put a child seat on for my 22 month old daughter.

I'm very tall which I'm assuming will cut down my options.

Apart from taking the little one (or not so little as she takes after daddy) out for a ride, I'll be using the bike to commute to work which the last 1/4 mile is up a steep hill.

Any advice or thoughts are welcome.

Thanks
A

Canyon and Rose in Germany sell big frames, not sure if they do ebikes though, assume they do as the market is massive in Germany

Otherwise, try a specialist ebike seller, see what they can source

@Pale Rider might know of specific brands/models

How have you managed in the past with normal bikes - could you get a large frame and have the seat right up, get an extra long seat post, bar risers? Might be worth trying, would be a shame to miss out on a good deal just becasue they don't have an XL frame designed for your height. IME I see plenty of choice in L frames but I've never seen one bigger than that in normal sales outlets. If you were doing serious miles on the road then frame size etc would be much more important, but with an e-bike I wouldn't have thought it would be as important, as long as you can adapt it within reason to suit.

In my later teenage years (I was 6 foot 8 by the time I reached 16) I remember my parents buying the biggest bike in the shop, god knows how big it was but it was fine for everyday use with the seat right up.

I'll be clocking up 5-6 miles a day on the way to/from work, not loads but that poxy hill gives you a sweat even walking up it.

I'm 6'5" and ride a 62/63cm frame if that gives some reference, I'd suggest trying before you buy at your height as compactly geometry frames usually have a lot of seat post showing even for the low end of the height range and it might be difficult to get a seat post long enough.

I rode a 61cm frame for a bit and needed a 400mm seat post.

Trek do 64cm frames in some models so take a look at them.
