Lovely day. On account of assorted demos and other disruption, route for the ride was to be decided on the day. Small but perfectly formed turnout.
@AKA Bob proved to be an able impromptu ride leader (the odd U-turn excluded). After a gentle pootle around town, through Hyde Park, over east to the poppies at the Tower, including Titus's highly amusing take on architectural discourse, back to LMNH, where we were
fortunately impeccably timed to meet Evey and junior Allsopps. More guests, including (unless my memory is failing me) cousin Dan, of November 2009 FNRttC fame (bibshorts when everyone else was wearing every layer to hand). And
@HaloJ and
@Martok (YAY!). Great to see you two again. Andy was crowned, Evey once again produced a top-notch bit of cake (which not surprisingly rapidly disappeared). People gradually dispersed after much nattering and consumption of splendid nosh (excellent pie and salad). Birthday boy and Abs were hammering round on HMS Queenie when I left...
Oh yes, HMS Queenie. What a magnificent beastie...30kg of Rohloff-hubbed recumbent tandem epicness. Turning circle seems to go into the next postcode district, progresses at a stately pace, though Andy was riding solo for the most part- I bet it was a lot quicker with Abs stoking!
Also some very nice bike porn in LMNH's window- Tom Donhou's 100mph attempt bike (102 tooth chainring!!), and a Colnago C40, very nice condition and for sale at a mere £2k.
Thanks everyone!
