43 miles

Totally zonked after completing a 43.5 mile ride on my hardtail with 2.1" knobbies on it! Largely road based I'm ashamed to say, although I did get some action around Pennington Flash and along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, plus a wee bit of the TPT to finish.

I was plagued by a headwind on the long slog along the A57 on the way home, also I have a feeling I had to go through some not very nice parts of Greater Manchester, although I didn't hang around for a closer look.

It took me exactly 5 hours, so pretty slow going, but in my defence I was ruined with 2 hours to go and have been crawling for a lot of the return journey. And I also stopped quite often to check my map, eat a bar or two, chat with a cyclist etc.

All in all, I'll be rather disappointed if I don't sleep well tonight!

hey i done glasgow to edinburgh tdy ,,my furthest yet ,,47 ml i think,,took around 5 hrs but thir was a lot of women children ,,mtbs ,,,,and we stopped at a few feed stations ,,the overall pace was quite slow i would say ,,but it s a milestone ,,just short of 50ml ,,even seen 38 mph on one stretch !!! so it was the furthest AND the fastest iv been

Nice on Jim, 47 is a pretty long ride. Not a great day's weather but who's complaining?!

actually the weather riding through to edin was fine ,,a wee bit windy but a lot of the time it was from the side and helping so it was not bad ,,however ,,once we finished that the "real" cyclists were gona cycle back as well ,,i got the train back ,,i was ok but couldnt do the same again ,,anyway it was chucking it down on the way back and some of the guys have posted on facebook and it was a LOT harder on the way back ,,thank god i got the train and didnt attempt to cycle back
on a side note ,,the train fare back was 11.30 for a single,,,and 1140 for a return ,,hows that work lol
