Ah! I've only just gone and bought another bike. Popped down to the local store to buy some tyre levers and ended up buying a Claud Butler Explorer 400 hybrid for ~£175... along with a Giro monza helmet for £35, and a few other things.

I've not gone near my local Decathlon.......... I'd be bancrupt just looking at it !
