Hi.

I currently have a 50/34 compact front and a 12-28 cassette.

I am thinking about trying out a 52T oval ring off a friend, would this be wise, or would there be to much diffrence in ratio?

Thanks

36t to 52t is the norm,34 to 52 may be a struggle particularly as its oval as front mech height will have to be even higher just what you don't want!

Thanks, front mech aside, would the ratios be all wrong, it's mainly flat in Suffolk and the routes I take, if there is a hill it's short and sweet.

Thanks

I would give it a go, i run 11/27 36/52 we have a few hills around here, no probs. if you change both front rings it would be better.

As long as there isn't a leap in ratios and it shifts ok.

There aren't any hills to talk of, and I get up them ok anyway.

Thanks guys

One of my bikes has oval 52 / 36 and I cycle in the Chilterns which can be a bit lumpy at times and I have no problems. Give it a go
