5700 compact chainline advice...

I (sort of) understand the theory but can someone explain, in layman's terms, what I'm actually looking at and what is the optimum chainline for my set-up. 5700 compact 50/34 11-28 Hollowtech II

I've read numerous articles about chainline, Sheldon Brown, Park Tool etc, but I get to a point and my mind goes blank. Something is just not sinking in.

There's noting to worry about as the correct bottom bracket for your chainset will give you the optimum chainline.

Was planning on a ride today but the weather's awful. Fancied a tinker to make up for it, but looks like there's no point
