As above wanted if anybody has one floating about in the shed,its for an old road bike i've picked up,does'nt have the alloy mech hanger like modern ones,just fits direct to the dropout with a small bolt.Looked on ebay but hardly any of them state how many gears its designed for.

And it's not the mech that determines how many speeds, its the shifter. The mech can be adjusted via high and low screws to restrict the amount of travel it covers.

Not on mine mate,my mech is a 5 speed and does'nt have enough travel for a 7 speed cassette.
Yep very similar mate,i've got one sorted now so thanks for the replys :thumbsup:
