My 7 year old is allowed to cycle to her friends 300 yards away one 90 Degree corner. I have repeatedly taught her to be careful and stick to the left on this corner (we live at the end of a quiet cul de sac) Off she trots tonight, to be returned five minutes later in my neighbours car sporting
Fat lip
Nasty graze to elbow and knee
grazed nose
two mashed up and dripping with blood fingers.
we clean her up and the doctor who lives next door checks her out say fingers arent broken. I recover her bike wheel points left handle bar right, so she obviously gone down hard. When shes stopped crying i ask her what happened?
'well dad i was going round that corner too fast and there was a car coming, so i had to decide, crash into the car or crash into the kerb. i decided to crash into the kerb'
What a girl!
(Despite the jaunty tone of my post i was quite shaken up by it and am having a long hard think about her cycling)
