Tripping over the uneven pavement that cannot be seen now that the lights are switched off (at night).
I'm going to assume that you are joking with that one.

Live in the sticks and either no lights at all (most roads) or they are off, or reduced to 1 in 3 or 4, at midnight in the villages. People just have a torch, good lights on a bike, no problem.

I was actually trying to just think how any of that is relevant to the topic under discussion, which was about switching off the lights on a dual carriageway with a 70mph limit.

Although, in the absence of reports about a phalanx of 73 year olds walking down dual carriageways at night, I reckon I should probably stick with my earlier assumption that you were joking.
