I'm thinking of trying a mechanical disc brake up front on a Pompino. For a road commuter plus maybe towpaths etc. I've spotted the Kona Project 2 fork and also the Surly Karate Monkey fork as disc-ready. I notice that both appear to have eyes for mudguards. Two questions:

- any other options for a fork, without spendling lotsa cash?
- I want to run full guards, is this at all practical?

I've got full mudguards with disc brakes

LBS had to use an overlong bolt to secure one side around the disc brake thingy, looked a bit funny but don't notice it now

know nutting about forks otherwise, hth

The "On borrowed time" Kona has 700c discs (LX) and project 2 forks, not sure if it has mudgaurd eyes or not, I dont mind a bit of mud and curiously it doesnt seem to throw up much water spray. Apart form a few teething problems its OK.
The project 2's on the MTB are considerably stiffer though.
