Haven't been on my bike for getting one for a week except a short test ride. My chain seized up and just had to lube it .

Looks familiar, our works bike shed contains some of them. Congrats on 4000 posts gbb.

Wahayyy, thanks

It wasn't a 100% sucess mind, one guys Peugeot Y frame mtbs chain was so rusty, i couldnt rotate the cranks backwards to oil the chain...sod it, gave up. Gawld only knows what it sounds like as he pedals along.

Does this happen anywhere else ? Is it just immigrant workers who treat their stuff this way ?
The catalogue of dodgy looking bikes is never ending.

You'll not make any friends doing that. I once was told by a 'dry chain biker' that running his chain like that "stopped him getting oil on his trousers"!!

I know the feeling. There's me, on dress down Friday, in me baggies. I get on the bike in the dark, and don't realise until I get home that some ****'s gone and spilt oil all over me chain.

gbb, you owe me a pair of jeans......

That's why cycling legwear is mostly black. In the summer I always come back with a nice black impression of one of the front rings somewhere on my calves. I'm thinking of getting a tattoo like that done...

I would rather get chain marks on my leg than my clothes ... it comes off much easier and half the time I've already got sunscreen on ... which makes the oil marks come off much easier. (I've even used sunscreen once to clean my hands after sorting out a friend's mucky twisted chain.) Note I haven't tried using it to lubricate the chain... (yet)
