A Bicycle Repair Kit ?

I bought a bicycle repair kit a few days ago and know what every thing in it is for only for one itim that is two very very small thin rubber tubes less than a inch long what are these used for ?

They are for old style Woods inner tube valves.
Very rarely seen these days.

Sorry i should have said a puncture repair kit instead of a bicycle repair kit anyway it does not matter my question was answered

Also is it possible to repair a puncture without taking the wheel of the forks ?

It is... but I can never be bothered, as I can have the wheel off, change an inner tube and pump it up and get going again in less than 10 minutes. More like 5 minutes at home with the track pump to hand.

To patch an inner tube with the wheel in place means finding the puncture first....

Yes I have done this. But only when the source of the puncture is obvious. But as Pete said, it doesn't make it any quicker in the scheme of things.

In the old days when bikes had rod brakes, fully enclosed chaincases and it was a major job to remove a wheel, repairing a puncture with the wheel still in the frame was commonplace.
