A big off

I have already started researching folding trikes. I used to have a non folding ICE trike but it took up too much space. Maybe 3 wheels will be safer than 2.
Steve, would you be reconsidering driving or cars if you had had an accident in one of those and come out of it with a broken limb after misjudging a corner and running of the road? Just a random thought that perhaps that answer is not to avoid 2 wheels but to simply reconsider the speed at which you entered that corner which by your own admission was too fast. Only you can answer what went wrong with your assessment of the corner. Is it something you are likely to repeat? Is it something you could have avoided? I'm sure you have already asked yourself these questions. If not perhaps you should. I'm not trying to put you off cycling. Quite the contrary, I'm trying to get you to ask yourself how you can avoid repeating what sounds like human error.

Anyhow, glad they are letting you home today and as others have mentioned, do the physio and stay safe.

Edit: PS, I'm not suggesting you analyse it on here unless you wish to. It's just for thought, nothing more.

I agree with you SatNav. Slow down abit is the answer. I had both sides of the road to aim for and still hit the dirt. I will never know why. But a split second lack of attention can cause all sorts of problems.

This I know only too well!
I decided to change my line on the MTB at the last moment....there followed a spectacular dismount over the bars, sideways, and luckily I had quite a soft landing (I was in woods at the time).
Massive bruising to my thigh and very stiff the next day...it could have been so much worse.
I'm 51 and have decided I need to be more sedate on the MTB! So I've gone back to trails
Meant to add that I hope you make a swift recovery!

Glad you're getting better Steve!
You got a fright for sure there. Don't wanna put a damper on your N+1 project, but 3 wheels can throw you off too.
Concentrate on getting well first, I'm sure you'll be pals with the bike again.

It was my bike, but I have come off my scooter and I rolled my ICE trike. I am no stranger to accidents. In 1991 I had compound fractures in both arms and right leg in a motorbike accident. That was a biggie. I still have 3 motorbikes. We have just ridden to France and back. On the same day I came off my bike my brother came off a 3 wheeled scooter at a pub, whist blathered. Photos were posted on FB of him being bandaged up. Jannie thinks were a danger to ourselves and should be locked up. I have to see the skin people on Friday as I may need skin grafts on my finger. It does look a bit grim but I have started physically already but it is the size of my thumb. But at least I have feeling in it, which is good. They think I can get about 90% use out of it which is better than the original estimates.

Having less grip in this hand may be good as my front brake was locked solid when I saw the bike at home. It looks like I may have jammed the front brake on and that may have sent me over the top. I need ABS for my bikes.
