That Quick 5 looks good to me. You will be fine on weight for it (the Quick range takes riders up to 300lbs - http://www.cannondale.com/nam_en/manual_urban/)
I was just suggesting Decathlon because you can try out the bikes there. But considering how far away they are from you, you'd need to check that they had the particular bike(s) you wanted to try in the store ahead of travelling.

I have had success in the past buying two second hand bikes from a local traditional old style bike shop. Prices a bit higher than what you might get on eBay etc, but you have some comeback. Are there any such shops in Cambridge?

I currently have a Dahon Jack folding hybrid. Its a large and can take up to 230lbs. I'm on that weight mark. It gets me from A to B but it does feels a little small and not the most comfortable to ride. Hopefully a new bike will feel much better (smoother, robust).
That is a good call about bike shops selling second-hand bikes. Yes, I may be paying a little more but at least I can take comfort that the bike has had bad parts replacing and that it is set up properly. I do not know of any in Cambridge that are worth visitng - maybe others will know?

I was thinking of purchasing a Carrera Subway 1 as it looked like it could do some road mileage and not have much trouble on bumpy ground/grass parks, but I've purchased a BeOne Spirit Sport mountain bike. The spec is very good and the price I got it for I couldn't pass up.
Now this being a mountain bike I'm thinking I still do need a road bike and due to having spent out on the BeOne maybe I should grab the Ridgeback Comet for the price of £200 - one cannot aford to miss out on that price either.
1) Would the Ridgeback Comet be much different to a road bike of around the £500 price range? Other than the drop handle, lighter frame and possibly narrow tyres will I notice much of a difference when doing country roads?
2) For those of you that know the BeOne Spirit Sport do you feel I will need a Hybrid/Road bike to do road mileage or would this bike handle roads well?

Again, your help and advice have been most welcome.
