Living Legend & Old Fart
It was my birthday last month; I can now get a bus pass and a pair of Granddad slippers - zip up bootee ones in a beige tartan pattern - but still not old enough to own a Volvo!
Over the years, I have noticed that around my birthday or Christmas, I sometimes get a surprise - not every year! I told Sa about it four days before my birthday and she said "What sort of surprise?" Most of the time, it is only minor but sometimes a bit more. Not 20 minutes later, I had in the mail a letter from a large UK construction company giving me details of my pension; I have never worked for them so was at a loss of which of their companies it was and then I realised which one - I worked for them from 1980-1986 but was unaware that I paid into the pension fund.
I was given two options - take the full monthly amount or a reduced amount and a hefty lump sum, I chose the latter and that lump sum is now in the bank.
After a very poor 2.5 years and I do mean poor (Just over the Thai poverty line), one of the places, I will go is my LBS and order his and hers Hybrids and a few more bits and pieces!
