A challenge for DIYers.

Realised today that I must have dropped my prescription skiing glasses because a corner of the frame has broken off, exposing half of the tiny bolt, which attaches the arm. I plan to fill the corner with resin glue and am wondering how easy it would be to tint the resin to match the dark amber colour. How about ink from a felt pen? Or nail varnish? Any suggestions?

I've tinted Araldite with colour powder produced by rubbing coloured pencils on sandpaper. Much experimentation required.

This is going to sound weird. In my defence, I have failed to find beer here on Ios so have resorted to too much wine.

In the world of fly tying you can get this UV resin that you set with a little torch. A bit like what dentists use. I'm sure you can also get dyes to change it from its standard clear. I used it (as well as tying nymph and buzzer patterns) to 'repair' my daughter's iPod screen. It is tough stuff.

Good plan Stan but the repair is so tiny I've got to use Araldite and something found in the house to colour it.

It might be worth speaking to Rudy Project directly. I have had Oakley fix glasses for me for free that are more than 5 years old before, well outside of warranty.

I do know that in a back street in every town there's a bloke who repairs all the glasses that opticians send him after they've failed to persuade the customer to buy a new pair and those blokes can work miracles wiith plastics and tiny screws, same as the false teeth repairers.
