Fascinating indeed. A couple of things he said are, I think, worth quoting...

So you have to understand why amphetamines got there. In the ’50s and ’60s, they weren’t considered cheating. They were considered taking care of your body.

What I don’t get is, I make comments about cycling in general, about doping, and he always relates them to him. I’m not talking about him. I’m talking about the sport in general.

"he/him" being Lance Armstrong.


LeMond paints another bleak picture of cycling. I'd like to be more optimistic (that discussion was had on a different thread I think) but I sadly do see - from the outside admittedly - a deal of truth it what he says. Yes, there are steps being taken to rescue cycling but I think there's some way to go. I hope LeMond is wrong and cycling is not "a lost cause".
