Thank you all very much for your help. I think I'll head for Cookham as @Aperitif suggested, going via Richmond Park and Windsor Great Park. The Jolly Farmer looks like a good place to aim for before turning for home. I think I will wait until the Spring before girding up my loins and heading off.

BTW, thank you those who posted Strava stuff. I have neither a smart phone nor GPS. With my Internet Explorer 8 on Windows XP, I couldn't even see much of Strava. However, your Strava links intrigued me so much that I thrashed about this evening, loaded Firefox, and signed up to Strava. Oh Boy, it's just wonderful to see the detailed routes of other peoples rides......quite an inspiration really. Thank you!

I think I will splice bits of the @morrisman ride on to the the @Aperitif route.
