Popped down to my LBS this afternoon (still don't know what to go for) and saw a Bianchi Camaleonte 1 2013 Sports Hybrid.

It was on offer for £450.

So, does this represent good value for money for a quality bike ?

Its not bargain of the year, or a particular amazing deal. Winstanley bikes and many other retailers have it marked up at £499. Your saving a touch under fifty quid at best.

Hi Mr Haematocrit.

Thanks for reply, just checked that website and they are on sale as well 20% off but only down to £499 and oos !

Just wondering, for the money is it a good deal or are there better bikes out there for similar money ?

Cheers.

yep for such money a carbon fork should be something one can expect on many bikes of that market
have you looked at any of the boardmans? or even the carrera's from halfords if set up and/or built correctly by either LBS or yourself
Cheers Ed

what do you need it for ?

Will only be riding (dry weather) on cycle paths (tarmac) 15/25 miles max, odd 1 or 2 miles will be light gravel and about 3 miles riding on the roads to get to cycle paths.

Thanks for the replies.

Personally I wouldn't make carbon forks a deciding factor in buying a bike at that price point . Youll end up buying something because it has carbon forks and ignoring all the other factors on other bikes because they don't have one component .

Maybe the OP wants flatbars?

Personally, the carbon fork is the one component I wouldn't live without given a) the state of the roads around here and b) my history of tennis elbow. Much more than say disc brakes or a slightly better groupset. However, each to their own.

For £500, something like an older giant rapid 3
