So many times we hear negative stories about the police so I thought I'd start a thread about peoples positive experiences. The media always seem to concentrate on the negative and often we here only mention them when we have a complaint or grudge.

I will start by commending the actions of the police officers (both p.c.s.o as it happens) when they dealt with the theft and return of my stolen bike a couple of years ago.
The officer who came to take my details took his time and seemed genuinely concerned. Obviously he could not offer me much reassurance but he did his best to listen and take my report seriously.
Subsequently, a year later when I found my bike locked up in town the officer who came to deal with it was sensible and efficient and managed to clear the whole thing up in very short order. Long story short, he got my bike returned to me and got the man who had bought it in good faith from Cash Generator his money back and managed to leave the manager of Cash Generator a few quid worse off. Result.

a few years ago, a friend of mine had a call from the police. They'd recovered a stolen bike that belonged to him. He didn't even know his bike had been stolen until he checked his shed.

Turns out the police were were looking for a runaway and were checking some of her known acquaintances. The eagle-eyed bobby noticed an Orange Clockwork in one house and figured the bike was a bit 'posh' for the house it was in... so checked to see if an Orange Clockwork had been reported stolen. The bike hadn't been reported stolen, but they did have details of a matching bike on their database after the owner had previously had it post-code stamped by the police, so the bobby checked the bottom bracket for a post code stamp, and there it was!

So without even knowing his bike had been nicked, and not reporting a theft, his bike was returned... top bit of policing!

Years ago I came home in the middle of the day to find a young lad staring through the back window of our house. He ran off. I called the Police.

The response was staggering. The station was only a few hundred yards away, which probably helped, and perhaps they were all sitting round on their tea-break when the call came in. Who knows ?

They flooded the area with at least a dozen officers, instantly, and put a dog on his trail. He was caught and had burgled some houses up the street.

I thought it was an excellent piece of work.

The only downside was the Police Dog did an enormous dump on my doorstep.

I dropped the local office a quick email, to say that someone appeared to have tried to get into my garage/bike store. they failed, but perhaps the local patrols could keep an eye out for the usual scrotes hanging around back alleys.
a couple of hours later 2 pcsos arrived to have a look round and give security advice.
