Just to let you all know that I used this site for my route home this evening http://london.cyclestreets.net/

Im not sure if the site is common knowledge but i think its worth a look.

Quickest, Safest and balanced routing modes are available.

Got me home in one piece from Kent to East London this morning

I posted on it a while ago, its a good tool and can be changed to any place in the UK.

I saved 10 minutes when I used it to plan my commute from Essex to Canary Wharf. There used to be a limit of 20 miles, but that seems to have been sorted.
It is also one of the few that create routes to upload to my Garmin 305

It takes me a weird route with either silly roads (fast, steep, narrow laned D/C'ways where quiet and accessible streets run alongside) or tells me to get off and push (again where a detour of less than 100 yards would allow cycling)
