Hello All,
Can anyone suggest a good site for downloading GPS walking and cycling routes ? I'm interested in the Llangollen area at first having done a some camping in the area and Motorcycle Greenlaning. Can anyone also point me in the right direction with regard to a cheap(ish) GPS and final question can all downloaded routes be used on all GPS's ?

Thanks all.

garmin 200 is the cheapest GPS computer, but functionality varies widely from just tracking your ride to giving turn by turn gps directions. What are you looking for?

Thanks Snorri that looks the sort of thing, I had a look about and would like a GPS with OS or OS type mapping one I've found is the Garmin Etrex 20 which looks about right ( not research fully yet) Ideally I could do with something I could follow a route on without the need for paper mapping for Walking,MTB and off road Motorcycling. Does anyone have any eperience with the Etrex20 ?

I use my iPhone with a cycle mount (the Bike Console by Tiagra is very good).
I use the Cyclemeter and Motion-X GPS apps and they are perfect for following a pre-planned route or logging your performance.

I have used dedicated Garmin GPS devices in the past but haven't found any disadvantage in using an iPhone.
If you have an iPhone this is by the far cheapest option and also saves carrying another device and charger.

No iPhone this way I'd be too scared of spending all that money just to smash the screen which would no doubt happen a cheap hand me down phone does the job for me.I thought iPhone's didn't like water ?

Not exactly what youre asking, but the skyride locals show their maps online, so are very good for ideas of routes to cycle, you could re-plot them yourself too

The Bike Console mount is waterproof. Been through some real down pours with no problem.
It's also very secure. Ridden 1,000s miles with it over some rough cycle tracks without it budging.
In fact a couple of times when I didn't clip the case onto the mount properly and the case containing the iPhone hit the road, it was absolutely fine and the case hardly marked.
