I am quite liking the look of that Synapse apart from the colours....

Why wont official giant guards fit on a giant bike they are designed for? sounds a bit odd to me!

Also dont rule out CX i have had three (boardman cx, giant tcx and a forme calver) All have taken 25c tires and close fitting full sks guards. Yes ive made an extended bracket to drop the front guard closer to the tire on all of them but if i can do it any LBS should be able to

Slight cock-up on the design front. When they revamped the Defy range to give them all disc brakes, they removed the seatstay bridge and fork crown bolt hole, so there is now nowhere to attach the guards. It's a real oversight by Giant and one of the things that stops the Defy being a truly brilliant winter bike.

Just to add to the list of options already mentioned: Trek Domane

WOW that is very poor - I've not seen one in person but have always thought of them as a great all year option. Not now!

My Defy 1 works fine in the Winter without any guards.
