The colour is a bit ........ purple. That front mudguard mount needs to be lowered as it looks a bit daft like that. Sorry! Otherwise it's a nice bike. I might be getting a Troll soon, but orange (2012) or black (2013).

Yes, Crankarm, the front fender is coming down. That pic was a preliminary fit. Those forks are made for all kinds of wheels, big to fat. It's the beauty of the Troll. Unfortunately the hardware with the fender did not include enough to get it down where it needs to be. Will find some more hardware to do the job. Will post another pic when I get it all set up, Freeload racks included.

I can't say enough good things about the Troll. What a bike! braze-ons for everything: Rohloff hub, racks, fenders, a trailer, you name it. I even have a set of bottle cage mounts on the front forks that will go unused because I won't be able to fit a water bottle in there while running a front rack, so I'm going to make a small tool tube (split PVC pipe? split bamboo?) to bolt in place. Front forks are the perfect place for tools: low and up front.

My other color option was black. I figured, what the hell? Life is short; let's put a little pizzaz in it.

is it just me that thinks it looks wrong?

Can't disagree with your ambition to ride to Japan though

Do you mean the color? It's called eggplant purple. Once again, I figured that at fifty years of age, I've seen countless BLACK bicycles. I'll be dead soon. I don't want it printed on my gravestone: "He rode a black bike."

If you mean the seat and fenders, you're right. They weren't right in this pic. I was in the middle of adjusting everything when I took this pic.

not the colour, each to their own, maybe it is the way the seat and fenders are, it looks out of proportion

Here's the new baby. Brought it home last week. Just finished cutting the chain and adjusting the derailleurs. Also put these fenders on for a preliminary fit. Need a bit more hardware.

Will ride this bike from Florida to Japan next year.

SatNavSaysStraightOn from this parish uses (or did) a Rohloff hub on her tourer. May be worth giving her a shout for any tips especially long distance riding as she's done plenty of those!
