After my last proper tour, a couple of weeks in Spain, my panniers were literally falling apart at the seams. I came home and immediately put in an order for the Arkel panniers I'd been lusting after for ages. Then I promptly fell off my bike, broke my arm in three places, had four months off work and couldn't cycle for months and months... Roll on three and a half years and they've finally had an outing
. While my arm was healing I've done a bit of backpacking and camping but this weekend was the first time in forever that I've loaded the tent on the bike and headed off. It was only the one night but it felt so good.
I did 30ish miles from York south along the Transpennine Trail. Normally I turn east at Selby but this time I headed south. The roads and trails were a joy, so quiet. And I found a campsite behind a pub with a cycle tourer rate of only £12.
