My Shimano R501 C30 wheels are looking rather worn in the rims, and the machined wear indicator dot is just barely visible.

So its time to shop for some new wheels. My budget is max £120.

I could go for another set of R501 which has been faultless over the past 7400 miles.

Or I could go for Fulcrum Racing sport for £100

Or I could go for Mavic Aksium for £112

Are the cheaper wheel generly just a s good as each other? is there any thoughts on the above 3?

Thanks

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
I'm in the same situation with the commuter bike so can I add:

A Saturae AC30 wheelset for £60 from Rutland Cycling:http://www.rutlandcycling.com/334734/products/2016-saturae-ac50-700c-clincher-road-wheelset.aspx

Or their Saturae SC20 version for £80: http://www.rutlandcycling.com/334739/products/2016-saturae-sc20-700c-clincher-road-wheelset.aspx

@pclay - I used a set of R501's for a year in all weathers and they were fine, but heavy. Ribble have the bladed version at £66: http://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/shimano-pr-whls-r501-bladed-spoke/

I bought a pair of Vittoria Session wheels from Merlin at the beginning of the year for £109. They are fairly light, strong and spin very easily. Unfortunately, Merlin do not appear to sell them any longer, otherwise I was going to get a set for my partners bike....

@DCLane now why do you have to go and give me more options? Actually, I am liking the look of the Saturae SC20. I like to look of straight pull spokes rather than J bend.

edit: I have just ordered a set. thanks.

And 1000 miles on the Saturae SC20 wheels has seen my first broken spoke on the rear (non casette side). Never had this with my shimano r501.

And today I had my second snapped spoke on the rear wheel (non drive side) on the Saturae SC20s. 1400 miles on them.
