I'm looking for a phone handlebar holder, the waterproof kind that encloses the phone, which can be tightened sufficiently not to fall off. My present device has a plastic nut-and-bolt mechanism that responds to bumps by loosening no matter how well I tighten it. Any recommendations?

I found the quad lock but had the attachment that was superglued to my own case. I got one of the battery cases so it could charge the phone on the fly. Proper super glue the quad lock attachment to the back. All felt super solid. Phone itself was waterproof (enough)

If you have a compatible phone (iPhone, Pixel, Galaxy and a few more) Quadlock is a no brainer. Clips on and off really quickly. You can get a waterproof poncho that covers the phone if you're worried about it, but pretty much every phone I've had in the last ten years has been largely water proof to rain anyway.

My Quadlock has held my iPhone and remained fixed and firm over many 1,000 s of miles.

Not cheap, but it is reliable.

Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
I've never used one but Quadlock have a very good reputation However ...

At least one Quadlock has failed. I know this because I once found a bashed up phone in the road attached to half a broken Quadlock.

9 years ago, I tucked my Nexus 7 tablet being used to record Strava in my jersey pocket, because I didn't have a "smart" mobile at the time. Then chanced a Sony Smartwatch 3, but it didn't get the big Android update, so then bought a Lezyne GPS computer (Super GPS; then Mega XL I misplaced in last minute of train journey in Sept '22; Super Pro bargain bought from Chain Reaction fire sale).

I've tried my old Xiaomi Mi A2 mobile in the holder I use on the turbo for an ebike ride last year, but I had no faith it wouldn't jump out on the slightest road bump. There's no way I'd risk my Poco F3 in it outdoors!

To record a ride, the GPS lock on the Xiami Redmi Watch 5 Lite is brilliant for £40, had one since last summer (mainly for other functions) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Xiaomi-Redmi-Watch-Lite-Bluetooth/dp/B0DG5Z75F8/ref=sr_1_2?th=1

When you can get dedicated GPS devices from ~£40 from the likes of Coospo; iGPSport; Magene etc, there's no way I'd risk my mobile on my bike bars. YMMV!
