No, that's not the question.

There real question is, how do you make shortbread?

I have just tried to make some according to a recipe told to me by a Scottish friend, he said, "it's just flour, butter and sugar all mixed up and baked".

So that's what I've just done ...

... and it's come out hard enough to hammer nails in with!

So how do you actually make it?

Hammer it into a wall.

Leave for at least a month

It should then be soft enough to eat

If not mist it with one of those misty gardening wotsits for another month.

Use unsalted butter, it is better
